Brand new album from an expanded line-up of this great lurch/drone unit helmed by Daniel Presnell (of Astral Blessing) and Jenni Pace and featuring contributions from violinist Ed Yazijian (Dredd Foole & The Din/Cul de Sac et al) and drummer/organist Patrick Mulcahy. Ed runs a massive string of heavy silver right through the heart of this monster, lending the whole piece the kind of high-tension mettle of the Faust/Tony Conrad sessions or The Velvet Underground circa “Black Angel's Death Song”, an aspect that's given further emphasis by Mulcahy's thudding man/machine rhythms. Both of these central elements are given a whole load of peripheral depth by the application of ink-deep drones via mouth organ, bulbul tarang, strings, echo and vocal from Presnell and Pace, with the duo combining trephining blasts of breath in a way that conjures a whole bunch of underwater moonlight. Comes in the usual limited run with hand-tied card sleeve, full-colour art and fold-out insert with a poem by A.R. Ammons. Highly recommended.
