OUT OF STOCK!

Brand new official live album from Matthew Valentine and Erika Elder, effectively a ‘best of’ of the wildest unreleased Taper’s Pit moments from the past two years. MV & EE’s live form is a couple of worlds away from the more ‘constructed’ studio albums, with tracks opening out to reveal whole new vistas. The album opens with a duo take on “Home Comfort” from the Issue Project Room in Brooklyn that is the perfect marriage of lost Neil Young-styled country psych and the deep-space style of the early COM sides. Then there’s a “Get Right Church/Environments” from Philly in 2008 featuring Willie Lane, Doc Dunn and Muskox that subverts the stomping studio version with a guitar/harmonica/wah wah breakdown that matches Miles circa Live Evil for spooked studio voodoo as it cross-fades into a later “Environments” from 2009 featuring the same line-up. The flip is dedicated to a side-long navigation of “Environments > Tea Devil > Environments” that flits between the MV/EE/Doc/Muskox line-up, a trio performance featuring Jeremy Earl from Woods and a trio featuring Willie Lane, moving from great smears of F/X damaged acid rock and downer country played with Strange Strings to a roaring denouement that reconnects with the early Lower East Side style of Tower Recordings, bringing it all back home with a torrential guitar assault that recalls the run-out on The Velvet Underground’s “European Son”. A Classic MV side and the perfect document of just how advanced and elastic the logic of their live shows is. Think of it as their very own Grayfolded. Edition of 550 copies with insert. Highly recommended.
