The Music Of Bobby Beausoleil
The Lucifer Rising Suite
Ajna No Cat
4xLP Box Set
OUT OF STOCK!

Major archival project that bundles historically important recordings of one-time Manson family member Bobby Beausoleil, running from the recently discovered  sole surviving tapes of his mythical Magick Powerhouse Of Oz free-jamming group through the complete soundtrack to Kenneth Anger’s Lucifer Rising and a whole bunch of unreleased sessions from the group that Beausoleil ran in jail between the years 1976 and 1979. The Lucifer soundtrack has long stood as one of the most perfectly realized communal higher-mind freakouts in underground sound, with a dark, cultic power that matches classics of the genre by Amon Duul, Siloah and Ya Ho Wha 13, an atmosphere that the black magic power of the previously unheard Powerhouse tapes expands upon. Recorded in 1967 at the Straight Theatre in San Francisco’s Haight Ashbury, the thematic material that would make up the final Lucifer soundtrack is present in the Powerhouse recordings in embryonic form, with vague echoes of themes blossoming into spidery webs of free-form psychedelia and levitating free jazz drones. The Freedom Orchestra out-takes is just so much gravy for anyone who has spent endless hours basking in the hypnotic light of Beausoleil’s droning self-made keyboards and guitar synthesizers. The group play a particularly American, west coast form of Kosmiche that combines ancient ritualistic atmospheres with maximum psychedelic mindfuck. The whole deal is lovingly presented, with two large full-colour posters, an extensive booklet with pics and essays by Dennis Dread, Beausoleil himself and Michael Moynihan and four LPs each with unique magickal artwork all housed in a sturdy box. Beautiful.
