OUT OF STOCK!

First widely available full-length album from the solo project of Haley Fohr after an amazing micro-run LP on De Stijl. Fohr plays as half of the destructo-teen duo Cro-Magnon but her solo work is less punk-simple and more connected to the 90s Majora/Siltbreeze homemade psychedelic sound. Fohr uses guitar, drums, vocals, piano and F/X to skirt the kind of hazy, inchoate sounds of Azalia Snail and Leslie Q. Some tracks consist of nothing but single drum shots and a fog of barely-decipherable vocals that take the whole Grouper/US Girls axis into ESP-Disk realms. The construction of some of the more abstract tracks has a complexity that feels like a development from her first Symphone LP, with overtones, feedback and noise combining to create the kinda headspace that takes you right *there*, as phantom melodies and arcs of distant song bloom spontaneously in the air. Aspects of Zola Jesus kinda spring to mind too, with a teenage Diamanda Galas piano/vox approach on some tracks that cross doomy psychedelic diva-isms with the kind of microphone/bedroom goofs of Lisa Suckdog. A classic slice of suburban USA weirdness. Highly recommended.
