The Alphabet Fanatics
Alpha/Beta

Ideal Recordings 006

7"
£4.99

Satisfyingly screwed-up three way collaboration between the stellar Swedish electronic/drone duo Alvars Orkester, UK noise hounds Smell & Quim and The Members Of Tinnitus. Clear vinyl in a clear, printed bag, one side is the sound of small meteors impacting in your doughy skull; the other is a fleet of steel grasshoppers using stray alpha waves for skipping ropes. Recommended.

Searching & Moving

£6.99

Brand new hand-numbered edition of 100 copies on white vinyl from this great European psychedelic noise project. A-side mixes crunching machine noise with a high-end aspect that's similar to Maryanne Amacher's more physically-intrusive work while the B features two tracks that combine hypnotic droid logic with plenty of binary throb. Recommended.

Henrik Rylander & Leif Elggren
Performs Gottesdientst

Ideal Recordings Ideal-039

CD
£8.99

Document of a live action staged in a church from these two major Swedish composers with cracked loops of heavily degraded, fully-adrenalised keyboard repeating in stings of distorto-fury ala Zaimph, Solstice-era Coil and Neil Campbell’s Astral Social Club with some weird, dark vocal intrusions and some beautifully austere avant garde silver. Mesmeric, beautiful, aspects of this almost sound like an ecstatic, proto-Industrial re-think of Aaron Copland’s “Lincoln Portrait”. How the fuck did that happen? Comes in a hand-numbered edition of 500 copies in an over-sized cardboard sleeve and also features re-mixes by The Idealist and C.P.U. Recommended.

Live In Mimer

CD-R
£5.99

Live set of exactingly nuanced drone-joy and machine song from Gothenburg-based sound artist Thomas Ekelund's solo project, recorded live in a room with a majestic natural reverb.

Prurient & Carlos Giffoni
Heavy Rain Returns

Ideal Recordings Ideal-030

CD
£8.99

New collaboration between Carlos Giffoni and Dominik Fernow. Starts off in an intense, minimal-beats Suicide style before Dominik erupts with classic Beelzebub throat contortions and Giffoni lays out blankets of loud chattering insect invasion over what has got to be the ginchiest rhythmic base ever eviscerated by Prurient. Levels of fuzz are beautifully eruptive and the second track gets even further into the whole "we're all Frankies/we're all lying in hell" feel.

Wolf Eyes
Black Wings Over The Sand

Ideal Recordings 017

CD
£10.99

New CD edition of this Wolf Eyes Lp made up of a single eerie, minimal track that mingles identifiable sound sources - glisses of guitar, slow blooms of bass - with luminous coronas of high, lonesome tone, rusty death factory rhythms and punk metal eroticism. Heavy early Throbbing Gristle vibe to this - somewhere between Live At The Rat and Live At Oundle School with a little of the psychological horror feel of River Slaughter. Slow moving, grimy and full of implied threat. Recommended.
