Raven Strain
Old Sores
Gods of Tundra
C30 Cassette
£5.99
Matt Billings (aka Raven Strain) conducts this symphony for collapsing metal superstructures, as self-sustaining singing bowls probe through the shuffle of slowly contorting iron girders and bowed breezeblocks somewhere in the dark heart of the Motor City. The residual trail of gigantic heavy metal gongs are combined with short wave radio fuzz and barely-there singing to form an anaemic corona haloing an all but snuffed out sun. Sounds like John Truscinski, Gyorgy Ligetti and the Starving Weirdos jamming at the bottom of the river Clyde. Includes great full colour art by GOT boss Mike Connelly. Highly recommended. – Alex.

Walter Carson
Recalcitrants
Gods of Tundra GOT-010101
LP
£10.99
Limited full-length album (edition of 300 on clear vinyl) from Carson, a frequent collaborator with Robert Beatty of Hair Police/Three Legged Race/Eyes And Arms Of Smoke etc. First side pitches a staggering glut of invasive electronics against improvised crank, scrape and klang while the second side builds a muddy mire of celestially-encrypted electronics from particles of shredded tone.

Hive Mind
A Feast Within
Gods of Tundra
C20 Cassette
£6.99
More aggressively-formulated electronic minimalism from Greh Holger’s Hive Mind project, with a spray of malevolent, hissing electronics interrupted by organic throat tone and a heavy Alien Bog-vibe. Limited edition on Mike Connelly’s Gods Of Tundra imprint.
