Original Soundtrack To The Hired Hand Blast First Petite PTYT-002 CD £8.99 Reissue of a great soundtrack by Bruce Langhorne, scored for Peter Fonda's 1971 western, The Hired Hand. Langhorne was a key behind the scenes session player who most famously worked with Bob Dylan, with his contributions to Bring It All Back Home - especially Mr Tambourine Man - being particularly effective. Langhorne also played with Richard and Mimi Farina, Peter Walker, Mel Lyman, Fred Neil, Odetta, Carolyn Hester and Buffy Sainte Marie. This is the first official release of one of his major solo works, a soundtrack that is filled with valleys of slow dawns, picked banjo, slide guitar, delicate piano and woozy, lunar blues ala Loren Mazzacane Connors, Ry Cooder et al. It sounds great. |
