Brand new album from this NY-based avant/pop collective with connections to Angelblood/NNCK. While not quite as dilated as their earlier work there are some nice moves here, with an electro/acoustic rhythm section that sounds like a programmed orchestra of Mani Neumeiers driving weird psychedelic dub forms through hallucinogenic environs of rock-based electronica and F/X soaked guitar. Gotta dig the occasional audacious moments of symphonic prog/pomp too (one part sounds like fuggin’ Necronomicon) – I mean, who would’ve dared? Vocalist Liz also sounds a hell of a lot like Kate Bush these days and that’s no bad thing round these parts, especially when she’s left alone to hover over deep pools of black synthesized space that might’ve been scored by Florian Fricke. So, I guess it’s a concept album and, yeah, I guess I’m into it.
