Excellent limited edition collaboration LP from two notorious UK 'noise' groups, The New Blockaders and Putrefier. The sound here harks back more to the early hermetic, electro-acoustic feel of the first few Blockaders releases, with Putrefier working subtle magic with original source material that tends towards the more minimal side of Industrial entropy. There are slithers of metal, slates slowly detached from suburban roofs, broken glass, bursts of atonal whirlwinds and the sound of microphones gorged on charged silence. The tracks are fairly short, each focussing on a pretty distinct vibration, allowing you to fully plug in to each 'movement'. A classic release from these two, the album comes in an edition of only 500 copies with this special edition featuring a bonus CD-R of collaborative material only available with the first 100 copies (in two numbered batches of 50 each), all of which are already sold out at source. Recommended.

Another major milestone in Vinyl On Demand's on-going deluxe documentation of the furthest fringes of the European underground, Viva Negativa is the culmination of several years worth of commissioned remixes, extrapolations on and collaborations with the work of The New Blockaders, the UK's most consistently feral noise group. The quality of the track listing is pretty staggering – a testament to the liberating effect those early TNB sides had on a whole generation of otherwise culturally disenfranchised post-punks – and plays even better as a state-of-disunion round-up than recent attempts at void-articulation like Gold Leaf Branches, Invisible Pyramid et al. Wild document of classic noise action from this alter ego of The New Blockaders featuring Richard Rupenus alongside Dominik Fernow (Prurient) and Ron Lessard aka Emil Beaulieu. Recorded live at the No Fun fest 2006, Silent Movie also comes with a silent DVD of the show that makes for pretty surreal viewing when viewed without the record spinning in the background. DVD also comes with a commentary by G.X. Jupiter-Larsen. Edition of 500 copies.

Relentless psychedelic brutalism from legendary UK noise group The New Blockaders, with the Rupenus brothers joined by Phil Todd of Ashtray Navigations for a live recording drawn from The Red Rose in London in November 2003. This is very much in the contemporary style of TNB and makes a great companion piece to their amazing Das Zerstoren, Zum Gebaren from Thurston Moore’s Nightmare Before Christmas with a staggering feel for dynamics and tectonic accumulations of bastard textures that is as exhilarating as it is confusing. This is TNB’s modern black nightmare sound perfectly rendered. At the time this was scheduled to be the last TNB performance. Edition of 300 copies. Recommended. 

Inspired 25^th anniversary reissue of one of the all-time oddball UK Industrial/experimental classics, Mixed Band Philanthropists’s legendary The Impossible Humane. MBP was a pseudonym for Richard Rupenus of The New Blockaders and pals who put to together this insane LP with the help of a bunch of cassette contributions from a veritable who’s-who of DIY/avant gods. MBP then dredge the whole thing through several layers of impossible aural logic until you have one of the most spectacularly grid-locked and obsessively dense sides of scattershot/ plunderphonic noise/drone never released by United Dairies. Includes appearances from Nurse With Wound, Andrew Chalk, Nihilist Assault Group, The New Blockaders, Organum, Asmus Tietchens, Smegma, Tom Recchion, Merzbow, The Haters, Giancarlo Toniutti, HNAS, P16.D4, Vortex Campaign and more. Something about this set really suits the cassette format too. Recommended. 

One-sided LP documenting the infamous face-gouging gig that Magik Markers played in Tienen, Belgium, May 9th 2005, this time totally remastered and sonically fucked-with by Dominik Fernow of Prurient to give it an extra sick veneer. It sounds incredible and might just be the most purely in-yr-face Markers release to date - “total slow motion noise dirge hell”. Beautiful heavy duty silkscreened double sided/wraparound sleeve. Highest recommendation.

CD edition of the very limited cassette collaboration between these two modern masters of extreme electronic architecture. But it’s not the 100 mile head-fuck that the combination of these two names might suggest, with long passages of electronics and hand-drums that almost touch on the endlessly still waters of Popol Vuh circa Affenstunde all cut up with portentous narration and glissing drones. Later tracks combine almost Neu Wave-styled Industrial ritual with peaking Penderecki-esque tone annihilation and the sound of heavy machinery dreaming itself.

Vinyl edition of this classic Prurient side recorded in 2000 and originally released by Armageddon. Still some of Fernow’s most bleakly beautiful work, with the friction between the lyrics (which are based around the love poetry of the Persian Sufi mystic Rumi: Coil used his words to similarly disarming effect on Horse Rotovator) and the massively fucked-up nature of the sonics (contorted vocals, fuzz like boulders, fluxing low end thunder) making for a disturbingly personal vision of body horror, disease and redemption. Every Prurient release feels like a working-through of various Fernow fears/obsessions and The History Of AIDS is the process at its most transparent and skeletal. By turns frightening, upsetting and desperately moving; either way, this is a singular release.

Limited vinyl edition of the Cold Cave/Prurient collaborative UK tour cassette that came out in an edition of 100 copies in 2009 with the addition of a brand new track. Very different in tone from what either group has done before, Stars Explode presents a series of very beautifully slow-moving drone compositions that have all of the ancient tectonic power of Nijiumu’s Era Of Sad Wings. Heavenly choirs of synth vibrate on the very edge of the horizon while arcs of symphonic underwater keyboards bubble to the surface. The beats break through on the third track, a jack-hammer Suicide-style instrumental before breaking into a final track that combines epic/euphoric drone melodies with macabre F/X-contorted vocals. Aspects of Coil, Klaus Schulze, Walter Wegmuller.... but truly its own thing. A major step outside. Highly recommended.

Split single that pairs a particularly dark track from Wolf Eyes that starts off with a mangled little girl vocal before the beats kick in for an alien vox/locomotive noise juggernaut. Massively fucked vocals/electronics from Prurient on the flip. Full colour covers with double-sided insert.
