The self-styled Reverend Frank Wright was a wild tenor player and a teenage buddy of Albert Ayler's, who he followed from Cleveland to NYC. Although his style embraced primitive street-noise and vocal barking, he was equally at home blasting out brassy Coltrane-esque testimonials with a big-hearted sound that dominated his two ESP Disks. This release bundles both of his titanic ESP albums alongside some interview fragments and he's joined by Henry Grimes, Tom Price, Arthur Jones, Jacques Coursil, Steve Tintweiss and Muhammad Ali. Highly recommended.
