Korps
Hello World!
Gulcher Gulcher-427
CD
£6.99
Brand new on the world’s most beautifully stupe high-energy imprint, The Korps is the duo of original Gizmo/sainted dope Kenne Highland with Ken Kaiser singing and punking out in a tough garage-fuelled style that recalls The Neon Boys, The Angry Samoans, The Ramones and Lou Reed at his most poignantly putz. Hello World! was some kind of follow-up to The Afrika Korps’ world-beating 1977 album Music To Kill By (a rec that Julie Burchill – would you believe it - described in the NME at the time as being “the best album of the year”) only minus the Gruberger brothers, Solomon and Jay, who were kicked out just because. The resultant album is a masterpiece of basement snot, with Boston scene-tributes, booze blues, ex-girlfriend put-downs and plenty of chug-a-lugging DIY foam. Recommended. Comes with liners and track commentary from Kaiser himself.
