Necessary document of Dylan Nyoukis’s recent tape/sound poetry innovations, with punk epiglottal torture and clots of vocal vibration channelled into sick loops of phlegm, text and tourettes. Singular work that should appeal to fans of Junko, Chopin and Dilloway. First track recorded live at The Engine Room, Brighton (first ever solo gig) March 4th 2006 with two microphones and two reel-to-reels. Second piece for voice, reel-to-reel and oscillator. One track each from Courtis of Reynols and Nyoukis of Blood Stereo/Decaer Pinga et al coupled with a live duo bomb hitting the red in Brighton, July 16th 2006. Courtis track is all slowed-down barbiturate piano/guitar sonority clank while Nyoukis presents "Spiritual Mould", a minimal piece for single suspended tones that sounds like a symphony for telephone exchange tones and melting circuit boards. Live set is more Neanderthal piano/chains/vox improv clank.

I brought scruffy violin and box full of junk and springs, but as the night progressed something took hold of us both, and it was decided at the last moment that this should be a straight up vocal duet. Inspired and inspiring collaboration between English weirdo ‘improvisers’ The Bohman Brothers and Scottish weirdo ‘improvisers’ Blood Stereo aka Dylan Nyoukis and Karen Constance. Recorded live in London in November 2010 this is a beautiful traverse of pointillist small instrument confusion with violins, loops, tapes, springs, vocals, wine glasses and radio receivers conjuring form from straight out of the air. The use of the receivers in particular adds a fuzzy nocturnal/psychedelic muzz to the proceedings while the logic of the jams follows an eccentric arc that really sounds like little else in ‘improvised music’. An inspired hook-up between a bunch of genuinely eccentric and creative fringe artists. Comes packaged in a DVD-style case with three photo prints inside. Edition of 100 copies. Recommended. 

Hand-numbered edition of only 200 copies LP from this raging full-on Tokyo psych unit, here featuring Anla Courtis of Reynols on second electric guitar. Up-Tight have always had a heady Rallizes aspect and here it is in full force, with a track that moves from an initial explosive twin guitar w/freeform percussion headcharge into infinite waves of F/X-heavy two-chord folk dooms before Tomoyuki brings on the “Sweet Sister Ray” amplifier violence and the track builds to a chugging monochord assault complete with planet gobbling vocals. An amazing slice of classic Japanese psych with a deep connection to the 1990s source, cool colour paste-on sleeves too. Recommended!
