Fabulous Diamonds

Nervous Jerk Jerk-004
7” + CD
£6.99
Last copies of the debut 7” + CD set from this fantastic Australian duo with a further LP on Siltbreeze. Their debut recording is a little cruder than their debut release, which works to further inflate the late-night skin-crawling potential of the sonics. The zoned keyboards cross Harmonia-styled toytown psych with Terry Riley-esque extended crescendos, blats of saxophone and an atmosphere that would’ve sat real well somewhere inside the first ten or so Rough Trade 7s, further mutated with a dreamy, edge of the world feel that summons visions of classic Australian stumble-pop. Another great side from these two.

Trumpet Works

Redundancy #3
Cassette
£7.99
Fantastic new set of Cosey Fanni Tutti/Brainbombs/Tori Kudo-style solo trumpet explorations from Jarrod Zlatic of Siltbreeze recording artists Fabulous Diamonds on his own cassette imprint. He describes the first piece, intended as an ‘instruction piece’ for non-trumpet players, as “accidentally ending up like a home demo Seiji Nagai didn't make in '72, or '74...the sound of the endless sea”. It’s a beauty. Next up there’s a cranky avant garage set for trumpet and beatbox and then a live improvisation for amplified trumpet and clarinet that would’ve sat just right as part of the Red/Futura series.

Redundancy #2
Cassette
£7.99
Limited cassette release from Jarrod Zlatic of Fabulous Diamonds own Redundancy imprint documenting a dosed duo recording with Zlatic on trumpet, tapes and treatments and Tarquin Manek on clarinet, sampler, laptop and treatments. Two recordings of the same set, one digital, one analogue, with the players battling bubbling tones and vertical ascensions of breath with alla the alien gravity and post-tongue vision of the legendary Ichiyanagi/Ranta/Kosugi recordings.
